YOGA FOR A BROKEN HEART - PART 1

Last year was a challenging year for many relationships and I know quite a few friends who went through a break-up and had a very hard time. People were talking about 2013 as being "the year of separations". Personally, I lived one of the most difficult moments in my life and experienced many rather painful emotions, but still, I prefer to see it as a year of making personal changes and to be confident that my heart will heal again.

This week we will give some yoga asanas and tips, which can be very helpful for those who need to open up and mend their broken heart

Ustrasana (Camel Pose)  Also known as a “heart opening pose" as it stimulates and balances both the fourth and fifth chakras, located at the heart and throat centres. For many people these two chakras are often blocked and practicing this posture can sometimes stir up emotions we have not dealt with.  Practice with awareness of your feelings, since fear of your emotions can create stiffness in the body and may lead to injury. Do not practice this pose if you suffer from high/low blood press, insomnia or migraine.
