ARDHA BADDHA PADMOTTANASANA (HALF BOUND LOTUS STANDING FORWARD POSE) is a balancing pose that helps you to find your ground and dharana (concentration). In this pose we challenge the body and mind and by working oneself in and out of a difficult yoga position helps us to reflect over how our bodies and minds respond to a challenge. Knowing how to face a difficult situation on the mat also opens up a reflection on how you approach situations in your everyday life.
This balancing posture is also a hip and shoulder opener that help to build strength in the core and the standing leg and it stretches the groin muscles in the leg which is bent.
Don't be afraid to challenge yourself but always practice yoga from the essence of ahimsa (non-violence)!
